Several steps forward…one back

A few days ago I got my new Sony Ericsson K750i. I really like to play around with this thing, the camera is quite good for ‘everyday use’, great display, nice form factor. (No, I am not being paid by them…)
I tend to use separate phone profiles for office and car and when I was adjusting them I noticed something that really bugged me.
The point of having profiles (i.e. a collection of several individual settings that can be activated by selecting the profile identifier) is to spare the user from adjusting each item individually. So with my previous phone I got accustomed to choosing a profile and by doing so activate the settings for ring tone, volume of the ring tone, silent alarm etc. (An example for the elements constituting a profile from my previous phone can be seen in the photo.)
Now what really annoys me about the K750i is that the setting for ring tone is not part of the profile anymore. This means that every time I get into the car (or to the office), I have to select the respective profile and then dive into the other settings to separately change the ring tone. Now that is what I would call “interactional overhead”. (OK, now I also will not be paid by them in the future…)
Maybe someone can enlighten me about the reasoning behind such a change?
